My Caltech walk of fame prank got ganked
This just in: a group of Caltech students, fresh from their recent pranking exploits, has redone Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

Timed to coincide with the release of a set of US stamps featuring various famous scientists (such as Caltech’s Richard Feynman), they replaced the names on many of the stars on Hollywood Boulevard with the names of famous scientists, and the Caltech logo on at least some of them.
But I must confess to being rather bitter. Because it was my idea. Yes, just last year I was talking about exactly this prank. Admittedly, I can’t be certain that the group that put it in to practice took the idea from me. And, I suppose, I can’t really feel too upset, since I didn’t ever get around to really doing it. Still, it would have been fitting if I’d decided to do it today too. I can just imagine fighting over which group of prankers gets first shot at the best star locations…
Proof of my claim: a search for “walk of fame” scientist caltech on Google, right this moment, gives my blog as the third item. Even before this post.
